Dulce Munoz | For Making a Feminist Difference in Community Activism

Dulce Munoz is the National Convener of Mums4refugees, a grassroots network of mothers and carers that provides emergency aid to people seeking asylum. Their main focus is to empower mothers to use their rights as citizens to advocate for other mothers, for their right to services, legal aid and dignity.

With over 4000 active members around Australia, Dulce empowers women to join and change the conversation by assisting families and newly arrived refugees.

She believes that Mums4refugees challenges the patriarchal perception of motherhood. For her, motherhood is an act of citizenship and active advocacy — by immersing ourselves in the struggles of others we can create a better community, and ensure the rights and dignity of every woman.
