Meg Smith | For Making a Feminist Difference in Workforce

Meg Smith has made an outstanding contribution to the quest for pay equity for Australian women. Significant pay increases have been achieved in female-dominated occupations, including social and community services workers, librarians and aged care workers.

None of this would have happened without the work of Meg.

By making such a vital contribution to systemic change in the interests of pay equity, Meg has contributed to real increases in pay for women whose work was previously undervalued, due, at least partly, to gender discrimination.
To get proper recognition for their skills, without rates being affected by gender discrimination, is an essential condition for women’s equality.

Although the process has been very drawn out and there are still many award claims to go, the work done on pay equity by Meg has most certainly made a feminist difference.
