The Loveys | For Making a Feminist Difference in the Arts

The Loveys is a band of four women who write and sing original songs, accompanied by keyboard, ukuleles, bass guitar, drums and bassoon.

Their music is original, funny, melancholic and ultimately true. Their songs explore topics from divorce, dementia, septuagenarian sex to the ordinary and courageous business of love itself and most importantly the acceptance of the ageing body. Mature and worldly wise, it is this seeking after the truth which really sets them apart and allows them to connect so deeply with their audience.

Individually and collectively, the women have served and continue to serve the community with their charity work as well as in their present or former employment. They have done volunteer work for the Byron Council in the form of overseeing the upkeep of council properties, running free classes teaching ukulele and singing at the local Neighbourhood Centre in Mullumbimby.
